The goal of this design analysis and redesign of the current layout of FBI flyers is to better convey the most important information in an immediate and simple way.

When dealing with such an important topic I find it is important to remove my personal design preferences from the equation and instead create a set of scientifically tested, evidence based design principles. I intend to develop these principles according to what current psychology research has found is likely to increase prospective person memory and overall recall. I can than apply these design principles and justify every decision with hard evidence as to why it was made.
The memory process is understood in psychology as three tasks:
acquisition, retention, and retrieval of information.
The current information delivery protocols do not effectively facilitate these three tasks. There is a need to redesign missing persons media with cognitive architecture and working memory limitations in mind in order to make this media more effective.
